[Nairobi, May 13, 2025] The Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro was keynote speaker at Africa Inland Church Milimani Men’s Fellowship held at Milimani AIC, Nairobi. The theme of the day was “Christian Man in the Marketplace: Living out Faith with Integrity, Purpose, and Servant Leadership.
In his address, Prof. Laban Ayiro emphasized that Christian men are called to live out their faith not just on Sundays, but every day.
“We gather here today not just as men but as disciples, called to live our faith beyond Sunday,” he declared.
Encouraging the men to be Christ-centered, family-focused and purpose-driven servant leaders in their professions, Prof. Ayiro encouraged men to stand firm in their faith. “Let’s stand for Christ as men,” he urged.
Quoting Ephesians 2:10, he reminded attendees that a man who follows Christ must be rooted in Him: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Prof. Ayiro also warned men against allowing professional titles to overshadow one’s identity in Christ: “Never let your title replace your identity in Christ, and you will be amazed at how God will surprise and protect you,” he said.
Prof. Laban P. Ayiro stressed on the importance of having integrity, stating that it is not optional but essential for Christian men. He cited Proverbs 10:9: “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely.”
He encouraged men to consistently choose truthfulness, underscoring the necessity of ethical decision-making in professional settings. He invited the men to reflect on their lives, observing that purpose is not just about setting goals but answering a divine calling.
Prof. Laban P. Ayiro further urged the men to embrace servant leadership, emphasizing that those who aspire to lead must first serve. Quoting James 4:17, he encouraged them to always act in alignment with what is right: “If anyone knows the good they ought to do and does not do it, it is sin.”
He challenged men in the marketplace to prioritize sustainability over speed and accountability over convenience as they navigate leadership roles.
Encouraging men to uphold Christian values in corporate environments, Prof. Ayiro stated: “You may not preach, but your conduct can make people curious about your faith.”
He also addressed conflict resolution, urging men to be peacemakers rather than mere peacekeepers. Prof. Ayiro cautioned against tribalism and discouraged ethnic biases in professional circles. He strongly advocated for family values, urging men to prioritize their families and invest time in them.
Quoting Luke 16:10, he further emphasized the importance of financial stewardship and called on men to serve as mentors, demonstrating Christ-like behavior in the workplace.
He also encouraged them to handle success with humility, and reminded men that achievements should lead to thanksgiving rather than self-glorification.
In his concluding remarks, the VC challenged Christian men to let their faith be evident in all aspects of life-work, family, and beyond.
“May the world see Christ in us—at work, in our families, and in all we do. Let’s rise not only as leaders but also as men of faith, conviction, and love,” concluded the VC.
